Personalizing the guest experience

The Pillows team wanted hotel guests to have a personal experience during their stay quite unlike the standardized experience of a traditional hotel. They wanted to provide seamless hotel services that focused on guests’ specific needs throughout their stay, so they reached out to Tovèrli Lighting & Control Solutions.   

The hotel wanted to be able to allow guests to control the room’s lights and climate and request services through a single, user-friendly panel and also improve staff efficiency. For management, visibility across the property from a central dashboard was essential.

Guadalajara, Spain

The city of Guadalajara, Spain has installed 13,500 connected LED light points and 187 cabinets controlled by Interact City lighting management software as part of a major upgrade to improve the efficiency of their city lighting. Interact City lighting asset management software combined with LED street lights has enabled the city to save 68% on energy consumption and reduce operational costs considerably.

Customer challenge

With lighting accounting for nearly 50% of the city’s energy consumption, officials on the Guadalajara city council wanted a connected lighting system with the flexibility to remotely monitor and manage the city’s connected light points, as well as the group cabinets located throughout the city. Interact City lighting asset management software makes this possible by providing a single dashboard for lighting monitoring and management via a secure web browser.

Improving efficiency and saving energy

By combining LED luminaires and Interact City lighting management software, the city of Guadalajara is well on their way to becoming a smart city. Lighting managers can monitor the performance of individual LED street lights in near real time and dim or increase brightness in certain areas, such as busy pedestrian crossings or public squares. This combination of energy-efficient connected street lighting and remote management is helping the city to reduce its carbon footprint while increasing the services it offers its residents.

The largest LED lighting sculpture in the world—once meant to be a two-year temporary installation—is now a permanent part of the city’s skyline.

Personalizing the guest experience

In 2011, the non-profit arts organization, ILLUMINATE, along with the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans), and world-renowned artist Leo Villareal collaborated to create a stunning living display of light on the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge in celebration of its 75th anniversary. The Bay Lights, unveiled in March 2013 and originally intended as a short-term installation, quickly became a local and global “must see” attraction. Before it even went live, it was dubbed by Hemispheres magazine as “the number one thing to see in the world during 2013.”

The living sculpture also instantaneously became a source of pride for the community. It revitalized the waterfront and its economy with local bars and restaurants reporting a 30% increase in business. And, a group of more than 20 independent analysts from leading firms such as McKinsey, Deloitte, Google, Facebook and city agencies unanimously agreed that The Bay Lights boosts the regional economy by more than $100m annually.
